Platelet Rich Injections with Our Lubbock Chiropractor

If you deal with chronic pain, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections may help. Many people who struggle with chronic pain have find relief with PRP injections, and this treatment may be a good choice for you too. At Lubbock Advanced Physical Medicine, our chiropractor is experienced in providing PRP injections to patients using their own natural platelets.

What Are PRP Injections?

The process of receiving platelet rich injections involves our staff taking some of your blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to remove the platelet rich plasma, and then returning the plasma to your body. Many people find PRP injections helpful for injuries that tend to take a long time to heal, such as tendinitis. There are many parts of the body that help with the healing process, and platelets are an important factor in getting injuries back to their natural, pain free state.

The typical PRP injection process takes about an hour, and is done on an outpatient basis. First, our staff will take a small sample of your blood. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge, a machine that spins it around to separate the different components. The spinning process takes about 15 minutes. After the components of your blood are separated, a staff member will take the platelet rich plasma and prepare it to be returned to your body. Our chiropractor will use imaging techniques, such as an ultrasound, to locate the areas of your body that will benefit the most from the PRP injection. Once the proper area is located, the platelet rich plasma will be injected back into your body.
